Biography

Manos Papadakis

Manos Papadakis was born in Thessaloniki on a sunny Monday in 1965.

He studied electrical engineering and started working for OTE (National Telecommunications Systems), but a thought soon troubled him: "What am I doing here in-between cables and closed circuits?" So he crossed the line.

He went on to complete film studies and graduated from PARALAXI three years later with a degree in film direction. Tired of working as a DJ and radio producer, he accepted a post in the montage department of TV100, where he remained until his injury in paragliding. While recovering from the injury, he wrote the novel King of the Rocks and soon afterwards he ranked first in the annual Panhellenic Paragliding Race "Euathlos '97".

At about the same time, he started cooperating with the audiovisual productions companies ICON PLUS, N-ORASIS and PROSEGISSI until 2001. That’s when he moved to Athens, where he stayed for 4 years, shooting professional documentaries.

Some of his work has been shown in several festivals and has also been awarded prizes.

Today, Manos Papadakis continues his professional and other activities from his new base, Thessaloniki.

He works as a freelance director and editor of audiovisual projects for the cinema and television. He also teaches montage.
